Hi!
My first game of VBCW. I used Went the day Well rules which were easy to use in this limited playtest.
Next time three units a side.
The Pinfold Farm Cottages Outpost
Pinfold farm is on the south side of Walkden at the junction of Bridgewater road and Newearth road. So it was an odd affair that the Mosley Common miners used the road instead of the Bridgewater railway to move to Walkden Yard, if that was their destination. Or it could just have been a probe to gauge the preparedness of the Suffragette Regular Army's Walkden's defences.
The miners, an irregular force came up the road on foot, a not inconsiderable walk. No doubt these hardy men were used to it.

Miners approaching |
The Mill Worker's Militia, an irregular force manning the junction, were well placed to receive any incursion by forces against Walkden, held by the SRA (Suffragette Regular Army) of which they were a part. They were stationed in the tenant cottages at the junction which gave hard cover, but in the main were at the fence along the road side.

Hi!
In the last couple of days I've received these two interwar planes for A VBCW.
One for the Socialists
and one for the Suffragette Regular Army
Stolen form the BUF.
Both will be used in the ground attack role. As targets in airfield raids. Or any other scenarios I can think of.
Hi!
An update with more pictures.
Aiding the LMS Workers' Militia are the miners of Mosley Common. These rugged men, not as rugged as Agecroft miners of course, are a useful tool of the LMS who have a hold over them due to the fact the LMS service their equipment as they do most of the Manchester Colliery mines. Not that ideologically they are any different.
These figures are by Ironclad Miniatures. They are larger (32mm?) and a little cruder than Empress Miniatures but look fine on the table. Besides, there are no other miner figures, are there?
And here is a Liverpool Free City assault section (not NKVD Russians at all!) to aid the socialists in their nefarious aims. These are Warlord Games NKVD figures. I bought these to use as more LMS Militia but, again, they are larger than Empress Miniatures. I was going to paint and sell them on until I received the Ironclad Miniatures and decided to keep them. Strapping lads these miners and dock workers!
And some vehicles from various manufacturers.
Thak you for dropping by.
LMS Worker's Militia (The London, Midland and Scottish Railways)
This is a group of various socialist factions coalescing around the LMS engineering base of Walkden Yard.
Again, a mixed scheme with, perhaps, the variation in headwear colours and those in uniforms giving a factions within a faction look.
Hi!
I have painted my first batch of the Mill Workers Militia.
I am very pleased with the results so far.
The Primrose League's Walkden Mill Workers' Militia
These women are the front line of the fight for freedom, free speech, home and country in Walkden.
I've gone for a mixed colour scheme but trying to tie them in with the SRA (Suffragette Regular Army). We don't want mistakes leading to friendly fire on our units!
The flag is a print of the Honorary Dame of the Primrose League pin badge. Spiffing what!
Hi!
I had to do these figures first.
I just had that feeling they fitted the requirements for the SRA.
Suffragette Regular Army.
These splendid women offer professional help to the beleaguered forces of the Mill Worker's Militia. Timely intervention is the key to keeping a force like this intact.
I've gone with the suffragette's colours of green, white and purple for these hardy warriors. It seemed fitting.
